February 28, 2010SNEADS FERRY - Bernice Larmar Delano Benefield, 76, of Sneads Ferry, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church, Sneads Ferry with Revs. Russell Padgett and Dale Padgett officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Salem Cemetery Sneads Ferry.
Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by his parents, Alburn Faith Benefield and Ovelle Sloan Benefield; his first wife, Emma Kathryn Welchel Benefield; one daughter, Kathy Leilani Benefield; step-son, Brian Smith; and two brothers, Charles Ray Benefield and Dewey Benefield.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Batton Benefield of the home; son, Douglas Lamar Benefield of Sneads Ferry; daughter, Karen Lynn Pearson of Chittenden, VT; stepson, Terry Lee Smith of Sneads Ferry; two sisters, Virginia Juanita Agan and Daphne Ledford, both of Cedartown, GA; brother, Thomas Wayne Benefield of Cedartown, GA; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Holly Ridge Chapel.
