Mary Boyle

JACKSONVILLE—Mary Porson Boyle, 87, of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Onslow Memorial Hospital. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary was very active in her school, her community, and her church.
Mary was the secretary at Jacksonville High School for 34 years. The first female deacon of First Presbyterian Church and also served as an elder. She was a charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mary was the 1966 community woman of the year and later the ABWA Woman of the year. She held offices in the Military Widows Organization and was a Charter Member of Onslow County Educational Office Personnel.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Boyle, Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Alex Boyle and wife, Carol of Swansboro, David Boyle and Peggy Cassin of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Alan Boyle and wife, Elena, Corey Boyle and Lillian; three grandchildren, Haley, Anna, and Rachel.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with the Rev. Jim Spiritosanto officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
