July 08, 2010SNEADS FERRY - Walter V. Hausmann, 89, of Sneads Ferry, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday at Jones Funeral Home, Holly Ridge Chapel with Rev. Preston Wells officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday at the New Bern National Cemetery in New Bern.
Mr. Hausmann served as a Staff Sergeant in the USMC during WWII. He was a loved and dedicated police officer for NYC for 24 years. Mr. Hausmann was a talented Handyman and had a deep passion for cars. He was a great husband, great provider and a much loved Dad and Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Marie Hausmann; and granddaughter, Amy Hausmann.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Watkins and her husband, Jim of Sneads Ferry; Linda Cochrane and her husband, Randy of CA; two sons, Bruce Hausmann of Sneads Ferry and John B Hausmann and his wife, Mickie of Sneads Ferry; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
