Betty was a graduate of Swansboro High school where she was crowned Miss Swansboro a few weeks shy of her 18th birthday. After graduating, she and Preston were married on June 18, 1960, in Swansboro. While raising her children, Betty owned a daycare, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Swansboro where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was heavily involved with Children’s ministries. After her children were grown, Betty enjoyed working at Jones Funeral Home for over 30 years where she loved helping others and being a part of the Jones Funeral Home family.

Betty loved her family, music, cooking, and sitting on her back porch.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Rawls and husband, TC Cleve; grandson, Justin Kyle Cleve and wife, Allison of Swansboro; granddaughter, Kylie Alexis Cleve of Morehead City. Also surviving are two great-granddaughters who loved their “Nana”, Madeline Baye Cleve and Presley Elizabeth Cleve, and also many extended family members.
