Alan Barry Taffler

August 12, 1940 ~ December 15, 2019 (age 79)


Alan Barry Taffler (Barry) 
Died: December 15, 2019 at New Hanover Hospital. 

Known to his family and friends to have "hands that could fix anything" Barry was born August 12, 1940, raised in Philadelphia, and served in the US Army.  After the Army he began his career at PECO (Philadelphia Electric) where he worked for over 30 years before retiring from the company which was by then Exelon. 

In 1964 he married the love of his life Genevieve (Jenny)  and they moved in 1968 to Riverton, NJ where they raised their children Lauren, Barry, and Michael. While in Riverton Barry was a volunteer fireman and eventually served as fire chief.  In 1998 Barry retired from Excelon and he and Jenny made their move to Sneads Ferry, NC to enjoy their retirement living on the coast. 

Barry passed away on December 15, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Genevieve Taffler, daughter Lauren Perkins (Jesse), sons Allen Barry Taffler Jr. (Michelle), and Michael Taffler (Marlene).  Also survived by his grandchildren Tucker and Nora Perkins, Madeline and Colgan Taffler, Kimberly Dunne and Stephanie Cliffe (James).  Preceded in death by his mother Anna, father Adolph, and sister Nancy.

A Memorial Service for Barry will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Sneads Ferry Presbyterian Church.
