Cecil Harvey Carter, Sr.

September 4, 1944 ~ September 10, 2019 (age 75)


Cecil Harvey Carter Sr. passed away on September 10, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM at Blake's Chapel Advent Christian Church of Hampstead with Pastors Ed Dowd and Steve Spearing officiating. Burial will follow at the Blake's Chapel Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home of Holly Ridge on Friday evening from 6 - 8 PM.

Cecil was born in Burgaw, NC to the late Louise Carter and Huey Lester Carter. Cecil survived by his wife, Irene H. Carter (Sue) of 54 years, his two sons, Harvey Carter and Timothy Carter, his daughter-in-law, Sandy Carter, and his granddaughter, Brooke Carter, along with his one brother, Joe Carter, and sister-in-law, Joyce, all of Hampstead, and sister-in-law Sherry Carter of Wilmington. He was raised in Hampstead with his late sister, Jewel Carter Alford, and two late brothers, Allen (Beatrice) Carter and Wilbur Carter. He also has survived by many nieces and nephews. He attended Topsail High School and graduated in 1962. He served in the US Army for 6 years, built beach houses on Topsail Island for 40 years, did beach renourishment on Topsail Island for 20 years, and attended church all of his life, serving as a trustee at Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church for 44 years.

Cecil had a very big heart and was willing to help out whoever was in need. He loved his family and the Lord more than anything else and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed and forever loved in our hearts. Cecil, you will forever be our hero, our family, and our friend.
