JACKSONVILLE - Charles James, Jr., 67, of Jacksonville, died Friday, January 10, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday at Catalyst Church with Pastors Jason Brinker and Maurice Irvin officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. James was a veteran of the USMC and retired as a MGySgt after 28 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Emma James of the home; his daughter, Emma Steele and her husband, Steven of Angier; his son, Charles “Chuck” James, III and his wife, Kristy of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Ava Grace James, Spencer DeMuro James, Jaxon Miller, Cole Waldron, Nathaniel Waldron, Zachary Waldron, Kenneth Steele and Jonathan Steele and his wife, Shelby; eight sisters, Arlene Brown, Alberta Agras, Nancy Rosario, Theresa Weaver, Kathleen Chaney, Delores Thomas, Frances Alfonso and Celeste Romero; and two brothers, Robert James and James Romero.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.
