Swansboro- Grady Carol Jones, 74, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, August 29, 2019. He was born April 3, 1945 in Onslow County, NC son of the late, Samuel Amos and Rosa Bell Casey Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro with Chaplain Richard Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be inurned at a later date at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
He grew up and lived most of his life in Onslow County until he was drafted in 1965 he served his country and was honorably discharged in 1967. After his military service he began a career as a boat builder and retired after 35 years. He spent his retirement years with family and friends. He liked going to the Moose Lodge with his best friend, Allen Denny playing pool and having fun.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn West Jones, who he married in 1989, of the home; daughter, Sonya Perry of Hubert; grandchildren, Samantha Perry, Amanda Perry and her fiancé Justin Brenner, and Kaylin Jones; great granddaughter, Kinslee; good friend and son-in-law, Mark Perry and good friend, Alex Canby; brother, Elwood Casey; sisters, Jean Branam and Georgia Garret; and four nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Sherrie Denise Jones and Andrea LeAnn Jones.
Grady was a people person and a good friend to many and was always willing and ready to help anyone.
