Swansboro- Jeanie Hinton Smith, 36, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. She was born March 22, 1983 in Jacksonville, NC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 4-6PM at Jones Funeral Home- Swansboro.
Jeanie spent all her life in the Swansboro area. She was the manager of the local Dairy Queen for several years and held many other positions in other places in town. She loved to work, but above all, Jeanie loved to spend time with her family, and was thrilled to welcome her first grandchild, Graham, son of Dorian and Michaela Speight Hinton, in the days before her passing. She loved babies. Even after she was diagnosed, she spent most of her time taking care of a lovely little girl named Dixie for two years.
Jeanie was selfless and giving, often putting the needs of others above her own. She always made the best out of every situation. God gained a true angel. Jeanie Smith was truly loved by many and will never be forgotten. She is gone much sooner than anyone wanted.
She is survived by daughter, Haley Hinton of the home; sons, Gabe Smith of the home and Dorian Hinton of Piney Green; mother, Linda Craft Hinton; father, Howard Hinton; grandson, Graham Hinton; and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
