Cape Carteret- Samuel Eason Way, Jr., 77, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 4, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born July 13, 1941 in Rocky Mount, NC son of the late, Dr. Samuel Eason Way, Sr. and Pauline Dixon Way.
A memorial Celebration of Life service will be held Monday July 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ben Burrows officiating. Inurnment will be at Gethsemane Memorial Park at a later date. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Sam loved to spend time with his family and friends and his dog Bailey. Sam graduated from Campbell University in 1965. He had a love for beach music, shagging, NASCAR and a passion for UNC athletics. He was most happy on the water and later in life loved sitting in his beloved recliner watching the birds. He was a wonderful Father and Poppy.
He is survived by wife, Sandra M. Way of the home; daughter, Kelly Rogers (Bruce) of Emerald Isle; son, Samuel Eason “Skipper” Way, III of Cedar Point; step sons, Page Stallings (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, Scott Stallings of Cary, and Mark Stallings (Cindy) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Eason White, Harris Rogers, Liza Stallings, and Claire Stallings; his special companion, Bailey; and several cousins and special freinds.
He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Patsy Edgerton Way.
