William (Bill) Augustine Ray

Obituary

JACKSONVILLE, NC

William (Bill) Augustine Ray was born on June 21, 1953 and he left this world just shy of his 66th birthday in order to celebrate it with His Maker on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

The Funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 19,  2019, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park with Military Honors.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Carolyn Smith Ray of the home; two sons, Vincent Matthews and his wife Rima and their son, Zachery of San Jose California , and son Steven Matthews of Clinton NC; a daughter, Denise Ray and her two daughters of Missouri; his loving sister, Wilhelmina Russell of Newport NC; a brother, Arthur Ray of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren already mentioned; two nephews and four nieces. 

He was preceded in death by his father William Mitchell Ray, mother Mortie Stanley Ray and brother Thomas Allen Ray.

William was a man that was a strong believer in our lord and savior Jesus Christ.  He also was an organ donor so that he may lend a helping hand to others, so that their lives may be elongated.  He was a Disabled United States Navy Veteran, coming from a strong military family with a combined service of over a hundred years. William also had a multitude of lifelong friends from around the world that he cherished dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family would ask that contributions be made to your Disabled Veterans Organization.
