JACKSONVILLE  -  Aida Salloum Thompson passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.  Following the chapel service, she will be laid to rest at Onslow Memorial Park. All who knew Aida are welcome to join in celebrating her life

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Aida lived a life centered on family, kindness, and community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life — especially the time she spent at the Jacksonville Senior Center, where she made countless friends and touched many hearts. Her home was always a warm and welcoming place, thanks in no small part to her incredible cooking. Aida worked for over 20 years in the public school system in Jacksonville. She had a deep love for working with children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Lacy Thompson, USMC; and her oldest son, John.

Aida's legacy lives on through her surviving family: her daughter, Basma O'Neill and husband, Mike O'Neill; her youngest son, John Thompson and wife, Gretchen Thompson; and her five cherished grandchildren, Sophie O'Neill, Nora Thompson, Kaylie O'Neill, Natalie O'Neill and Eva Thompson.

Her presence, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
