JACKSONVILLE  -  Allen Louis Bader, 92, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Louis E. and Juanita M. Bader. Allen graduated from UNCin 1955, where he was a member of the NROTC and Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served in the US Navy for 20 years, including as an instructor at the US Naval Academy, as Naval Attaché in Canada, on surface ships and as commander of a logistics support base (Nhà Bè) in Vietnam.

Allen was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joan Carol Burke, whom he married in 1958. He is survived by four daughters (Carol, Laura, Donna, and Alice), six grandchildren (Allen, Jessica, Steven, Michael, Chelsea, and Dylan) and one great-grandchild (August).

Allen was an avid reader, especially of history, and had many interests, including geology, geography, and art. He could be seen many days doing yard work or working in the garden.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, St. Jude or to the charity of your choice.
