Pensacola, FL - Mr. Alvin Elijah "Bud" Cox, 94, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Pensacola, Florida.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Jones Funeral Home, 303 Chaney Avenue, Jacksonville, NC, officiated by Rev. Sandy Bain. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Jones Funeral Home.

Mr. Cox, a native of Pitt County, was the son of the late Raymond and Blanche Everette Cox. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville, NC. He was employed with the Jacksonville Post Office as a mail carrier until his retirement. He then established Cox Refrigeration Service where he worked for the next 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

A devout Christian, Bud, loved his family and spent many happy hours maintaining his beautiful yard. His yard won Yard of the Month many times in Jacksonville, where his prize roses were known, loved and enjoyed by many.
He will be dearly missed by his son, Jim, daughter-in-law, Connie; granddaughter, Karla Matthews, her husband, Allen, and grandchildren, Noah and Maddie Matthews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox, was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pernell Wrenn Cox, brothers, Asa Howard Cox, Raymond Cox, Jr., Lindsey Ray Cox and sisters, Della Cox Bolby and Geneva Cox Powers.

He is survived by his son, Jim Cox and his wife, Connie P.
Cox, of Pensacola, Florida, their daughter, Karla Matthews and her husband, Allen and grandchildren, Noah and Maddie Matthews of Florence, S.C. A sister, Joyce Cox Mahan of Greenville, N.C. and Carolyn Cox of Punta Gorda, Florida.
