Obituary

JACKSONVILLE  -  Ann Marie Long (Mastrangelo) of Jacksonville, NC passed away on October 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 10, 1942, in Rhode Island. She grew up in Cranston and then moved to Warwick where she raised 2 girls with her husband. After she retired, they moved to Jacksonville, NC in November of 2014 to be close to her daughters and granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5 - 7 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. In honor of her favorite color, the family is requesting that visitors please wear something red. For our RI friends and family there will be a celebration of life in RI sometime in the spring date TBD.

Ann was a Hairstylist for over 50 years, spending most of her career at JC Penney Hair Salon in Warwick Mall. Through her career she made many lifelong friendships, as well as helped thousands of people look their absolute best. Ann also loved to bowl, which is how she met her husband, Bill. She loved the theater and went to as many shows as she could with her family and friends.  Family was very important to Ann, and that was clear to anyone who attended her spectacular Christmas Eve parties. Ann was a fantastic cook and baker and knew how to create an amazing spread. She also had a talent for crafting and art, allowing her to create beautiful sewn and painted items that she both sold in craft shows and displayed around her home. Her talent allowed her to decorate her home with purposeful beauty. Her ability to utilize and match color in her career, home, crafting, and clothing had both of her daughters constantly asking for advice, which she loved. Ann loved her daughters and was over the moon with both of her granddaughters. Her pride in all her "girls" was obvious to all who knew her. Once Ann and Bill retired and moved to NC, they discovered silver sneakers at a local gym where they built beautiful friendships while also helping them stay active. These friendships took them on many adventures around NC and SC.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Mastrangelo and mother, Mary Mastrangelo (Marfisi), as well as her brother, Anthony Mastrangelo.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, William (Bill) Long; her two daughters, Bethaney Ann Long and Cynthia Marie Nealey and husband, Floyd Nealey, Jr.; her two gorgeous granddaughters, Ashlynn Nealey (14) and Dylan Hussey (10); and her sister, Gloria Sayler (Mastrangelo) .
