Obituary

JACKSONVILLE  -   Arline Kellum Collins, 89, of Jacksonville, passed gently from her earthly life, Monday, October 21, 2024, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Kellum Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Yopp officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Collins was born May 30,1935, in Onslow County to the late Floyd and Nora Kellum. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Roger Turlington Collins and together they became the bedrock of a loving family.

Arline worked in her early years as a Telephone Operator before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was an active member of Kellum Baptist Church serving on many committees and helping at the church where needed. Arline spent many hours working outside in her yard, cutting grass or working in the garden, she had many passions during her years including being outside and visiting relatives or nursing home patients. Arline never met a stranger and was able to provide genealogy to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Lee and Nora Leigh Kellum; her husband, Roger T. Collins; son, Michael R. Collins; daughter-in-law, Louise Collins; granddaughter, Allison-Grace Gade; brothers, G.J., Floyd, Jr., Oliver, and Wade Kellum; and a infant sister, Retha Virginia Kellum.

Survivors include her son, Randy Collins (Kathy) of Swannanoa, NC; daughters, Gwendolyn Gade (Niels) of Salisbury, TN and Angela Collier (Mike) of Rocky Point, NC; grandchildren, Michael R. Collins, Jr., Rachel Partin (Josh), Krystal Tolzman (Tony), Brandon Collins, Alishia Parsell (Nathan), Abrianna Choate (Cass), Ashley Gade, Abigail Gade, Anna Vinz (Christian), Wesley Gade, Kristina Collier, and Justin Collier; great grandchildren, Lydia, Lisa, Levi, Lillian, and Lewis Parsell, Caleb, Alison, and Micaiah Choate, Wilson and Wade Tolzman, Tristin and Brayden Partin, and Andrew, Austin, Harlie, and Harper Collins; and brother, Russell Kellum (Nancy).

The family will receive friends Saturday, prior to the service, from 12:00-1:30 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Arline's memory to St. Jude Hospital for Children or to the National Kidney Foundation.
