Obituary

JACKSONVILLE - Riley Arnold Maready, 70, of Jacksonville, died peacefully October 31, 2014, surrounded by his family at Vidant Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the pastors Jerry Bryant, Chris Jarman and Daniel Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park. Arnold was born on December 6, 1943, in Chinquapin, North Carolina to the late Geneva Lanier and Riley Roe Maready. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nadalene Lanier and Carolyn Maready; and a brother, Malcom Maready
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Jarman Maready; his children, Aaron Durell Maready and his wife, Stacy, Richard "Ricky" Daron Maready and his wife, Ann, Dereck Brent Maready and his wife, Kim, all of Onslow County; and Melanie Maready Stokes and her husband, Woody of Fuquay-Varina.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph Maready, Jessica Maready, Riley Maready, Walter Maready, Sarah Maready, Kaitlyn Maready, Savannah Stokes and Jack Stokes and three great-grandchildren, Koby Maready, Taylor Maready and Olivia Mobley.
He is survived by his brothers, Gurmon Maready, Edgar Maready, Coy Maready, and John Maready; and his sisters, Rebecca "Beck" Smith, Jenny Collins, and Sudie Arnette.
Arnold devoted his life to a career in construction and carpentry. He was a long-time active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities. He was committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and took a strong leadership role in the Prayer Barn, which was first established by his father-in-law, Walter Raleigh Jarman in the early 1950s.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Half Moon Church Road, Jacksonville, NC 28546.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel and at other times at the Prayer Barn, located at the home of Arnold and Judy Maready.
