Obituary

Ayako Presnar, known to most as Ann and lovingly called "Freddie" by her husband, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the age of 88. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Born in Japan, Ann followed her heart to the United States after marrying the love of her life. Together, they built a home and family in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Though far from where her life began, she poured her energy into ensuring her family was surrounded by love, warmth, and stability.

Ann was one of the hardest workers you could ever meet. She put her heart into everything she did—providing for her family, caring for her home, and cultivating her passions. In her younger years, she found great joy in cake decorating, so much so that she taught classes at the community college, sharing her talent with others. Her beautifully decorated cakes were more than just centerpieces for celebrations; they reflected her generosity, patience, and creativity.

She also loved traveling with her husband and close friends, whether exploring new places or revisiting favorite destinations. Those journeys were filled with laughter, companionship, and adventure, creating cherished memories that carried her through the years.

Above all, Ann's devotion to her family was unwavering. She was a loving wife until the passing of her husband, whom she missed dearly. She carried on with strength and grace, finding her greatest happiness in the company of her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Simmons and Cynthia Pearce; her grandchildren, Trent Simmons, Lauren Simmons, Jordan (Jake) Winstead, Travis Jarrod Pearce, Chandler Pearce, and Christian Pearce; and her great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Anna, Everett, Allison, and Noah. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, with whom she is now joyfully reunited.

Ann's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. She will be remembered as a woman who gave endlessly of herself, and who found joy in the simple, meaningful things: family gathered around the table, a beautifully decorated cake, the adventures of travel, and the comfort of a life well-lived.

She will be deeply missed, but her love will live on in the generations she nurtured and the many lives she touched.
