Barbara Mills
Chaucer
June 19, 1942 – November 30, 2024
JACKSONVILLE - Barbara Mills Chaucer was born on June 19, 1942, in Wilmington, NC. Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband of 64 years, Russell Chaucer, whom she lovingly described as "the greatest man on earth!" Their marriage was a testament to unwavering love and dedication, as they cared for and cherished one another deeply throughout their lives.
Barbara's legacy lives on through her children, Keith Chaucer of the home, Abe Chaucer of Jacksonville, Paul Chaucer (Jane) of Wilmington, and Beth Marks of Jacksonville. She was also a proud Nana to Megan Moore (Bryan) of Pollocksville, Brooke Bowers (Rob) of Jacksonville, Tyler Chaucer of Jacksonville, Stephanie Kiser (Jeb) of Jacksonville, Stephen Edwards (Shaylan) of Jacksonville, Sterling Marks of Greenville, Logan Chaucer of Wilmington, Arden Chaucer-Sword of Wilmington, Christopher Chaucer (preceded) and Kayleigh Chaucer of Jacksonville. Her greatest joys were her amazing great grandchildren Caroline Bowers of Jacksonville, Mia Moore of Pollocksville, Sawyer Edwards of Jacksonville, Preston Kiser of Jacksonville, Savannah and Scarlett Edwards of Jacksonville, and Jane Chaucer-Sword of Wilmington, NC.
Barbara's husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. There was nothing Barbara enjoyed more than gathering as a family over a home-cooked meal, going to church, attending gospel sings, always winning at Yahtzee, cheering for her great grandchildren at their events, playing challenging crossword puzzles and word searches, watching Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and her favorite Alaskian Bush People and family get togethers were the highlight of her days. She had a heart as big as her love for the Lord, her family and everyone she encounted. Her warmth and compassion lit up every room, leaving a profound impact on all who knew her. Barbara's creative talents shone through her handmade gifts, especially the pillows she lovingly crafted for her family, which will forever be treasured.
Barbara's loving heart never ceased radiating brightly, filling any room with warmth and a beaming light of love. Each life she touched now carries a piece of her legacy, and her memory will forever be kept alive through pictures, traditions and stories passed down from generation to generation. Her life was a testament to love, family, and faith. Unfortunately, after a prolonged battle with cancer and other illnesses, our beautiful Barbara went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, with her loved ones by her side. We shall rejoice as heaven has gained a remarkable Angel.
