Cedar Point- Barbara Ruth Radcliff, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1938, in Bottineau, ND a daughter of the late Bjarne and Ruth Skar.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Nelson Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Throughout her life, Barbara devoted herself to caring for others as a nurse, serving communities in North Dakota, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Her great love for Jesus and faith in Him guided her service both at home and abroad, including missionary work in the Ukraine and involvement in prison ministry where she and Gary shared Jesus, encouragement, and hope to many. She considered this to be her most important ministry endeavor. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured every opportunity to be together. Her husband used to say her middle name was “GO.” She loved traveling and being included in adventures no matter how big or small. After moving to the coast to be closer to family she found special joy in boat rides on the intracoastal waterway creating treasured memories with those she loved. Her warmth, beautiful smile, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for family and friends will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Mark Radcliff (Marie) of Rocky Point and Sandy Fifer(John) of Cedar Point; grandchildren, Brennan (Savannah), Tyler (Erika), Victoria(Randy), and Jensey (Noah); great grandchildren, Caleb, Archer, RJ, Gunnar, and Gerald; brother, Brian Skar (Ruth) of Berthold, ND; and in-laws, Allen Halley of ND and Judy Radcliff of Murrysville, PA.
