Obituary

SNEADS FERRY - Bruce John Hausmann, 72, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at North Shore Country Club in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina.

Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Bruce's life, share memories, and honor the man he was and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.

Bruce was born on November 16, 1953, in Mineola, Long Island, New York. He later made his home in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, where he built a life filled with family, friends, hard work, and the outdoors.

Bruce was a professional truck driver and took great pride in owning and operating his own business, New River Transport, for many years. His career was an important part of his life and reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and dedication.

After retiring, Bruce enjoyed spending his time outdoors and doing the things he loved most. Some of his happiest times were spent with his beloved dog, Shadow, boating on the New River, and camping in the mountains. He cherished the freedom and peace of being outdoors and the opportunity to make memories in the places he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Julia Hausmann and best friend Duke Simms.

Survivors include his siblings, Joanne Watkins and her husband, Jim; John Hausmann and his wife, Mickie; and Linda Cochrane and her husband, Randy. He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Beecher and her husband, Gary, and their children, Kylie and Addison; and his nephew, PJ Watkins and his wife, Finnessa, and their children, Finn and Owen.

Bruce also leaves behind close family friends, Marie Simms, Amy Stanley and George Simms, who held a special place in his life. His beloved dog, Shadow, who was a loyal companion and an important part of his everyday life.

Bruce will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind cherished memories of time spent together and the many lives he touched along the way. Bruce was someone you could always count on whether it was for car expertise or his willing to lend a helping hand whenever he was needed. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to be there for others will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
