Obituary

Capt. Joseph Paul Normandeau, USMC (Ret), 91, of Jacksonville, passed away at home of natural causes on Friday, May 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Regina Normandeau and is survived by his son, Paul Arthur Normandeau and his wife Maria, of Jacksonville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, at Infant of Prague Catholic Church with Reverend Greg Spencer officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Joseph was a veteran of the USMC, having served during World War II and the Korean War, before retirement in 1963. Following his military career, he attended East Carolina University, obtaining his Masters Degree in 1969. He then worked for the North Carolina Employment Security Comission, retiring in 1985. Joseph served his community, his family, and his church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 62 years.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
