Maple Hill - Carl Eugene "Gene" Pierce, born October 5th, 1948, to the late Raspers and Viola Gurganus Pierce, passed away on October 4th, 2025. Funeral services will be Friday, October 10th, at Spring Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 am, with Elder Michael Pierce officiating, a burial will follow in the Pierce Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Gene loved farming, fishing, camping, all sports, participating in and coaching games, visiting with friends, and sitting around the campfire. Most of all he loved his children, and grandchildren. He was a member and Deacon of Spring Primitive Baptist Church while also leading the congregation in singing.

After high school, Gene began working with Roses, eventually becoming the assistant store manager in Milledgeville, Ga. There he met and married his wife of 57 years, Marsha Williamson Pierce. After ten years with Roses, Gene started work in Wilmington, NC, with GE Aircraft Div., retiring after 31 dedicated years.

Gene is survived by his wife Marsha Pierce, along with his daughters Leslie Parker, Diane Baker (Eric) and his son Elder Michael Eugene Pierce (Jenny). Gene is also survived by his brothers Stacy Pierce, Aubrey Pierce, his sisters Helen Shepard, Vandle Brown and Grace Cox, along with 9 grandchildren.
