Trenton – Carl Whitley Smith, 87, of Trenton, North Carolina passed away on March 4, 2025 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Richlands. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Kinston.

Mr. Smith was born in Jones County on May 20, 1937 to the late Archie Smith and Louvenia Philyaw Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Alexander Bakhshian.

Carl was a man of many traits. He was a great father, loving husband, amazing grandfather, and a hardworking man and great provider. He was selfless, honest, kind, quiet, and patient. His favorite saying was "It will be alright".

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Doris Smith, of the home; children, Barbara Wingate of Trenton, Robert Smith of Rouqemont, and Patricia Bakhshian of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Kyle Batte, Walker Batte, and Marissa Bakhshian Hollis; 9 great-grandchildren; and several extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
