Obituary

Carol Ann Milam Pegram, age 55, of Hubert, North Carolina, sadly passed away Friday, July 31, 2026. Carol was born July 10, 1971 in Moultrie, Georgia to Gene and Elaine Milam. She graduated from Lamar County Comprehensive High School in Barnesville, Georgia. Carol was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was married to Mark Pegram on June 29, 2001. She worked as a Recreational Assistant for the United States Marine Corps Single Marine Program. She considered this her “most favorite job EVER!” She loved being the bonus mom for the young Marines and the other employees. They all became her people.

Calling her grown children “friends” was especially wonderful. Love doesn’t begin to describe the feelings and emotions she had for her husband, children and grandchildren. Becoming a GiGi was her greatest joy. Time spent with her grandchildren was her deepest passion. Each grandchild had a special affectionate name.

She was an avid spokesperson and leader for her community, teachers and neighbors. Plainly, Carol was a bright and shining star; loved by many.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Pegram, her children Crystal Spalding (Dan), Deborah Marshall, James Pegram (Hunter), Daisy Pegram; her grandchildren: Elijah and Whitt (Matthew), Jaxxon, Everleigh, and James, Jr.; mother, Elaine Milam; sister, Teresa Story; nieces and nephews: Nicci Story, Amy Files (Bailey), Katie Story, Dana Haen (Ed), Chris Pegram (Leslie), Julie Letchinger (Daniel), Laurie Fowler, Matthew Pegram (Larissa), Reilly Pegram, and Carter Pegram.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Dorin Eugene Milam Jr., mother in law, Daisy Vaughn Pegram and grandson, Jonathan Lee Spalding.

Family will receive friends and guests Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 1:00 at Jones Funeral Home, 407 Old Hammock Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584. The Memorial service will follow at 2:00 in the chapel.
