Obituary

Swansboro-Carolyn B. Cowher, 88, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her husband, David Cowher, and their son, Mark, on September 3, 2025.

She was born August 9, 1937, in Holyoke, MA a daughter of the late Nelson and Constance Bullough of Belchertown, Massachusetts.

Carolyn loved Jesus with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength, and that deep adoration for her Lord is what overflowed to everyone around her. She was always willing to serve; teaching Sunday school and helping lead Bible studies. She delighted in any moment she could spend time with her family and felt so blessed to be a homemaker. She spent countless hours devoting herself to her children, loving her grandchildren, and snuggling with her great grandchildren. God gave her the gift of music. She was an accordion player and instructor and sang in the church choir. One of her greatest callings was being a faithful caregiver to her son, Mark, and then to her late husband, David. She was truly an example of love, patience, and strength as a humble servant. Carolyn will be remembered always as a caring, kind, and compassionate woman whose presence touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Lori Cowher (Dale Kratovil) of Cape Carteret, Kathy Hargett (Richard) of Pollocksville, and Jennifer Cannon (Nat) of Wendell; her grandchildren Jonathan Cowher (Ashley), Jacklynn Conrad (Zachary), Jordan Stewart (Hannah), and Jamison Cooper (Stacey); and her three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. She is also remembered by her former son-in-law, Jack Cooper (Judy), who remained a part of the family throughout the years.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 2-4pm at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro to honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org/
