Charles Joseph "Butch" Matteson, 79 passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 am from Seaside Memorial Park in Swansboro with military honors.

Butch joined the United States Navy in 1967, was an avid hunter, coached pee wee football, and was a New England Patriots fan.

Preceded in death by his parents; Charles William and Betty Walconic Matteson, his sons; Richard William and Robert Joseph Matteson, along with his brother, Mark Steven Matteson.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years; Terrie Loven Matteson, his son; Charles Alan Matteson, his grandchildren; Charles Jarred and Joseph Able.
