HUBERT  -  Charles Lyndon Morton, 87, of Hubert,  passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Queens Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Vance Murphy and Chaplain Rick Brooks officiating.  Burial will follow at the Querns Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Morton was born July 2, 1937 in Hubert to the late Luther Edward and Eva Midgette Morton.

A lifelong resident of Hubert, he shared a love for the water where he spent most of his time fishing with his family and friends. He was known for his ability to fix anything and willingly served his church and community any way he could. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events whether it was local or across the state. Family vacations and Daddy's stories will be cherished and never forgotten.  He faithfully served his country in the US Army and then began a career in civil service at Cherry Point as an aircraft electrician retiring after 28 years. Charles was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather who would do anything for his family and friends. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of 63 years, Dora Lee Russell Morton; brothers, Lewis and William; and a sister, Alma.

Survivors include daughters, Charlotte Henderson of Hubert, Cynthia New (Ronnie) of Stella, and Janet Underseth (Andy) of Swansboro; son, Doug Morton (Jessica) of Swansboro; grandchildren, Heather Wells, Holly Lewis, Kyle New, Rebecca New, Cameron Underseth, Allison Underseth, Brody Morton, and Landon Morton; and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro Chapel.
