HOLLY RIDGE  -  Charles Samuel Guthrie, Jr "Sam", 72 of Holly Ridge, NC was born on June 30, 1952, in Onslow County, NC to the late Charles Samuel Guthrie, Sr. and Virginia Dare Smith. He passed away at home on January 27th, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7th at 3:00 PM at Onslow Memorial Park, Jacksonville, NC.

He is survived by his daughter Lily Hood of Wilmington, NC, son Charles Samuel (Kalika) Guthrie, Ill of Lumberton, NC, sister Bonnie (Eugene) Collins, niece Kimberly (Craig) Stevens, great nieces Amanda Stevens, and Emma Stevens, all of Wilmington, NC, as well as other family members, and his beloved dog Murphy.

Charles Samuel Guthrie, Jr., known to his family and friends as Sam or Sammy grew up with an interest in fixing things. When he finished high school, he worked as an auto mechanic before moving onto his work as a refrigeration mechanic which is what he did until he retired. He was known to those who love him as a very generous person. He would find out something you wanted or needed and find a way to get it for you.

When he wasn't working hard to provide for his loved ones, he spent time at the beach fishing and enjoying the waves. When it was time to get away, he would pack up the RV and head for the mountains, a place he loved to be. In his later years, he adopted two Chihuahuas named Thumper and then Murphy, who in their turn became his beloved partners in crime. Above all things, he loved his family. He will be truly missed.
