Cape Carteret- Charles Abernathy Teachey, 76, passed away Friday, March 15,2024 at Carteret Healthcare with his family by his side. He was born August 31,1947 in Clinton, NC a son of the late Laverne and Josephine Hobbs Teachey.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 21,2024 at 10:00am at Swansboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will be at 2:00pm at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, NC with Dr. Ed Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, March 20,2024 from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.

Charles served his country in the US Army. He was a 1965 graduate of Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC and then a 1972 graduate of Vanderbilt University with his Master's. He was a teacher for 35 years at Swansboro High School where he taught history and was instrumental in starting the cross-country program where he and his wife Susan were still coaching. Charles was a member of Swansboro United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Black Teachey of the home; daughter, Jennifer Teachey of the UK; son, Chuck Teachey of Swansboro; grandson, Isaac of the UK; and a sister, Cheryl Faircloth of Rose Hill, NC.
