Sneads Ferry - Clarence Wade Grant, "Jr.", 82, passed away peacefully on August 23rd, 2026, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his children. He was born on October 29, 1943, in Holly Ridge, North Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wade Grant, Sr.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Grant, Sr., and his brother, Winston Emory Grant. He is survived by his children: Celeste, Claressa, Wade, and Caroline; one very special grandson, Grant Ward Stafford; pet cats: Lady Bug and Callie; brothers Anthony Emerson Grant and Gilbert Spencer Grant; and sisters Margaret Lynette Hudson (Muriel) and Martha Grant Batts. Nieces and nephews include: Anthony Allen Grant, Benjamin Spencer Grant, Margaret Lynette Hudson, Jennifer Leigh Hudson, Gregory Todd Batts, Joseph Boyd Batts, and Christie Batts Kern.

Clarence or "Junior" as he was affectionately known, began working at the age of 5 - delivering the Wilmington Star News paper on Camp LeJeune. Growing up, he spent many summers cropping tobacco for many local family farms along with his younger brothers in the hot, summer heat. Around 11, Junior developed his love for working in the water and harvesting fresh seafood to sell to his Father and Uncle's Oyster Bar (Grant's Oyster House). In 1969, he bought the family business from his Father, where he worked until his passing.

Junior loved animals, commercial fishing, his business, Sneads Ferry, and his family. He will long be remembered for work ethic, which was second to none.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30th, 2026 at 3 PM at North Topsail Shores Baptist Church (808 Old Folkstone Road, Sneads Ferry NC 28460) with Pastor Dwayne Collins officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM prior to the service. Food and fellowship to follow the service at 4 PM.
