Jacksonville, North Carolina - Concepcion “Connie” Fernandez Vasquez, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Infant of Prague Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Connie was born on September 10th, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas to the late Romana & Santos Fernandez. Throughout her life she was a dedicated mother & grandmother. She worked at the Tarawa Terrace Marine Mart as assistant manager/cashier until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents Santos Fernandez Sr. & Romana Vela, her brothers Santos Fernandez Jr. and Jose Fernandez, her sisters Consuelo F. Trejo and Cesaria Serrata, her husband MGySgt (Ret.) Esteban “Steve” Vasquez Sr., and her son Esteban “Papi” Vasquez Jr.

She leaves behind her daughter, Kristina (Quentin Sr.) of the home, 2 grandchildren, Quentin Jr. & Zelia, as well as numerous family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
