Obituary

JACKSONVILLE, NC
Crystal Ann Morton 41 of Jacksonville went to her heavenly home on Thursday, Nov.16, 2017 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The funeral service will be Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 2 pm at Kellum Baptist Church, burial will follow at the Morton Family Cemetery.
Crystal was a 1994 graduate of White Oak High School. After high school, she went to college with an ambition of becoming a nurse. She had no idea what kind of nurse, she would be, but, she knew she wanted to be a nurse that would make a difference in the life's of others. After college she went to work at Onslow Memorial Hospital in the labor & delivery unit. She quickly realized that was not her calling. Her manager at the time told her about an opening in the new born nursery so she decided to give it a try. She quickly found her passion and began a long career as a NICU nurse. A few years later she would become a PRN nurse for Onslow Memorial Hospital and would move full time to Navy Medical Center Camp Lejeune where she stayed until a few weeks ago after taking a leave of absence due to her sickness.
Crystal has touched the life of many people during her profession medial career. She could be often spotted in town by a parent that would hug her as they told her how big their child had gotten since leaving the NICU. Crystal would go to the hospital to take care of a friends' baby if asked by the expecting mother no matter if she scheduled to work on the delivery day or not. She loved her friends and if they asked her to care for their baby in the nursery she was going to do it. So many were blessed by the love that Crystal had for her small patients.
Crystals love for children was no different at home either. She would work tirelessly a 12 hour night shift and then go to a school play or a field trip to be with her own children. She was a firm believer that children should not only be told you love them but they needed to be shown they were loved too.
Crystal is survived by the love of her life, her husband Philip, son Matthew Morton of Jacksonville, sons Jonathan, Logan, & Owen Morton all of the home, her parents Leonard and Shirlene Kellum of Jacksonville and brother Michael Kellum of Jacksonville. Her fur baby CoCo and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Crystal was loved by many people. Once she met you a friendship would start on that very day. Our family would like to extend our love to three very special ladies that impacted Crystal's life. The friendship that was made many years ago still shines bright today. We can't say thank you enough for what you meant to Crystal and our family. We love you Janis Cox, Rhonda Littleton, and Lupe Draftz. The family will receive friends Saturday 5 till 8 pm at Jones Funeral Home.
