JACKSONVILLE  –  Daniel "Danny" R. Erny "Tank", 61, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.

Danny was born on September 29, 1963 in Onslow County, North Carolina  to the late Donald Erny, Sr. and Catherine McCrea Erny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Cherry Erny.

He is survived by his son, Jamie Myers (Brittany) of Holly Ridge; siblings, Donald Erny, Jr. (Kim) of Jacksonville, Dennis R. Erny of Jacksonville, David R. Erny of Jacksonville, Darrell R. Erny (Annette) of Surf City, Colleen E. Hines (Rudy) of Jacksonville, Cathy M. Erny of Jacksonville, and Doug R. Erny of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Layla Myers, Jackson Myers and Sabrina Myers; nieces and nephews, Justin Erny, Kevin Erny (Hailey), Caroline Morgan (Bob), and Steven Hines; great-nieces, Sophia Erny and Olivia Erny; great-nephew Alex Morgan and several extended family members and close friends.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 to 12:00 PM

The family requests everyone attending the service wear their favorite sports team attire, especially your Carolina Tarheel Blue.

Danny was a devoted brother, an inspirational father, and truly amazing grandfather. There has never been a bigger sports fan and his devotion to the Tar Heels is unmatched. He never missed weekly dinners with his son and grandchildren and looked forward to retirement so he could spend more time with them and as many days golfing as he could. Danny was dedicated to his job at Modern Exterminating and lucky to find a second family within that company in the Efirds. If you had the opportunity to know him you knew that he was selfless, he would do anything to help anyone and was always the life of the party. All of Jacksonville will feel his loss.
