Starts at 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Emerald Isle- Daryll L. Thompson, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 2, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born September 1, 1957, in Whiteville, NC a son of the late Ernest Alan and Iris Rose Fipps Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Emerald Isle Baptist Church with Pastor Zach Emory officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
He retired from Duke Energy after a 32-year career, he loved sports and played collegiate basketball, tennis, golf, and really loved surf fishing. He never knew a stranger, he would walk up to people like he had known them forever, and when asked if he knew them, he’d simply laugh and say, “well, I do now”. He loved ending every conversation with a joke and leaving everyone laughing. He had a love for Christ and for others, he always put others first. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and served on church ministry councils. Moving to Emerald Isle in 2005 felt like stepping into paradise-a place that quickly became home and filled with unforgettable memories. Daryll and Joan just recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. He will be sorely missed, but we know he is at peace with his Lord and Savior now.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Gould Thompson of the home; his children, Kevin Thompson (Kate) of Raleigh, Ellen Brink (Bobby) of Cedar Point, and Michelle Crawford (Thomas) of Emerald Isle; grandchildren: Jack, Porter, Lydia, James, Macy, Rowan, and Miles; and his sisters, Rhonda Thompson of Raleigh and Cherie Bevill (Billy) of Cedar Grove, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Parkinsons Association at The Parkinson's Foundation or to the Emerald Isle Baptist Church, Building Fund, 304 Emerald Plantation Rd, Emerald Isle, NC 28594
