CAPE CARTERET - Donald Allen Probst, 75 of Cape Carteret, departed this life on August 12, 2010.
He was born October 8, 1934, in Manhattan, NY, to the late Edna and Gustave Probst. He was united in holy matrimony to Patricia Eileen Harned on January 2, 1954. He was a loving husband and family man, who enjoyed life and found humor in all things.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean conflict. He retired from Canteen Corp in 1990, and relocated to Cape Carteret. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9960, and an avid golfer and member of Star Hill Golf Club.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 56 years, Patti Probst; his son, Bob Probst and his wife, Beth, of King, NC; his daughers, Pattie Lyons and her husband Robert of Byron, GA, and Kelley Crocker and her husband Chris Minor of East New Market, MD; his brother, Gustave Probst and his wife Wanda of Summerfield, FL; his sister, Joyce LeClaire of Swansboro, NC; Eight grandchildren, Somer Mills, Trey Brown, Jenna, Sean and Steven Crocker, Ryanne, Megan and Sam Probst; and three great grandchildren, Makenzie Walker, Lena and Caleb Embrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Probst, his brother-in-law Harold LeClaire and his beloved son Donald William Probst.
An informal celebration of his life will be held on Sunday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 407 Hammocks Road, Swansboro, NC from 6: 00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. for family and friends, followed by a private interment.
