Donald Alton
Walters
July 15, 1983 – January 9, 2026
Donald Alton Walters, lovingly known as Donnie, Uncle Paco, and Papi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina, surrounded by his family. He was 42 years old. Memorial services will be held at Baysden's Chapel on Saturday, January 17, 2026, 632 A I Taylor Road, Richlands, North Carolina, 28574.
Donnie was born on July 15, 1983, in Sanford, North Carolina. From the very beginning, he carried a spirit that drew people in — warm, humorous, and endlessly giving. To know Donnie was truly to love him.
Above all else, Donnie loved his family beyond measure. He showed that love in countless ways, most memorably through his incredible cooking and his endless supply of jokes that could light up any room. Meals were never just meals with Donnie — they were expressions of love, laughter, and togetherness.
An insanely talented tradesman, Donnie possessed a rare gift: nothing was ever out of reach for him. If something needed fixing, building, or figuring out, Donnie could do it — and he did it with pride, skill, and heart.
He was the very best "Uncle Paco" and "Papi" anyone could have asked for, pouring his love into those roles with joy and devotion. His presence was steady, comforting, and unforgettable.
Donnie is survived by his beloved mother, Trudy Walters; his cherished children, Aubrey Walters and Bentley Walters; his sisters, Rachel Martin, Rebecka Walters and Sarah Nichols; and his brother, Christopher Walters. He leaves behind a family forever changed by his love, strength, and laughter.
Though his time here was far too short, Donnie's impact was immense. His legacy lives on in shared meals, inside jokes, strong hands that taught others how to build, and the deep love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
