JACKSONVILLE  -  Donna Eileen Cuellar was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 21, 1962.  She loved the outdoors and spent much of her youth on, in, and around the Lake of the Ozarks, learning to water ski when she was four years of age.

Donna attended the Kansas University for 3 years.  She was a member of the Jayhawks Marching band for three years and remained a member of the KU Alumni Band.  Donna was also on the Kansas University Waterskiing Team for 2 years.  She was active in the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry while at KU.

She was a sports fan and enthusiast and especially loved her Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs.

She spent 20 years in the U. S. Navy from January 1988 until January 2008.  Donna's favorite tours of duty were Naples, Italy; and her two tours of duty in Hawaii.

She enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments with her sons, Jacob and Jonathan, as members of the 138th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Re-enactors, Company B.  Donna and her sons participated in the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg as re-enactors with this unit.

Donna earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in 2011.

She was the White Oak High School Cross Country "Team Mom" from 2012 to 2017.

Donna earned her Master's Degree from the University of Phoenix in 2014.

Donna was a valued employee of Coastal Carolina Community College where she served as a Veterans Administration Educational Benefits Counselor for students who were military veterans.

Donna went home to be with Jesus on April 16, 2025 surrounded by her sons and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Wienberg; and her mother, Marjorie Jeanne Wienberg.

Donna is survived by two sons, Jacob Ryan Cuellar and Jonathan Riley Cuellar; her living mother, Betty Ann Wienberg; her brother, Jim and his wife Maria, and numerous cousins and friends.

Donna's family and close friends would like to thank Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice for the exceptional care Donna received in the last days of her life here on earth.

Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, NC from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025.  Donna's Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Methodist Church at 11:00 am on April 26.  In lieu of flowers, Donna requested donations be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice , and/or Trail Life Troop 962 , Trinity Methodist Church, and/or the youth group at Trinity Methodist Church .
