HAMPSTEAD – Douglas Ezekiel Carter, 71, was born on December 8, 1949 in Holly Ridge and died on July 17, 2021 at his residence in Pender County. A visitation is scheduled Thursday at 1:00 to 2:00PM at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Ridge.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 2:00PM on Thursday, July 22 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Ridge with Rev. Preston Wells officiating.  Burial will follow at the Edens Family Cemetery on Mill Creek Rd.

Douglas leaves his wife Regina after 21 years of marriage. He passed away peacefully at his residence in Pender County.  His precious moments were spent out doors on the water, shrimping and in his garden.  Douglas will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, step-father and grandfather.  Douglas was also an avid lover and player of baseball.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; James Edward Carter Jr. and Juanita Smith Carter and a step-daughter, Leslie Atkinson.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Regina Yopp Carter of the home; one step daughter and step son, Valerie Atkinson and Weston Atkinson both of Hampstead; one brother, Tommy Carter and wife, Judy of Scotts Hill; niece, Courtney Kaefer; nephew, Jim Carter; two half-brothers of Hampstead, two step-brothers and one step sister; his mother in law, Lola Thompson Yopp of Sneads Ferry and five grand-children.
