JACKSONVILLE - Edgar Dean Galbraith, 86 of Jacksonville passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at Infant of Prague Catholic Church with Father Duggan officiating with Military honors.
Mr. Edgar was born in Waynesboro, PA and was the son of the late John and Alberta Schultz Galbraith. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Lee Galbraith and a son, Carl Galbraith. Mr. Galbraith served his country honorably with the United States Navy for 30 years and achieved the rank of E-9. He was active in the Lejeune Rod and Gun Club, volunteer to the NC Wildlife commission Hunter Education and Safety Program, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam and received the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. After, his retirement Mr. Galbraith worked with the Civil Service for ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey McArdle Galbraith of the home; one daughter, Deborah Rickard of Byron, IL; three sons, Gregory K. Galbraith of Blytheville, AR, Mark S. Galbraith of Oxford, NJ and Walter J. Galbraith of Owensboro, KY; five step-children; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home.
