Obituary

Eric Minor

On January 26, 2021, Eric went to be with The Lord while being surrounded by his family at the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington, NC.  He was born in Logan, West Virginia on September 26, 1951 to Andy, Jr. and Mattie Lee Minor. He later moved to North Carolina to live where he resided with his mother for awhile before going to live at Schooner Shores Group Home in Beaufort, NC.  This was his home until he moved to Community Innovations group home in Hallsboro, NC in August of 2019.  This move brought him closer to his family whom he loved dearly.  On December 22, 2020, he came to live with his sister Carole Whipp in Supply, NC.

While in Beaufort, Eric attended Calvary Baptist Church and considered Pastor David Bruce and this congregation to be his second family. He also attended The Station Club in Morehead City during the week which was a day program designed for special needs individuals. He made many friends there who were special to him. Eric was a friendly, outgoing person who enjoyed life and making new friends. He participated in Special Olympics for many years where he earned many, many metals of which he was very proud. Only one other accomplishment was of more importance to him and that was earning his GED while living in West Virginia.  Eric loved bowling, playing board games, watching game shows and movies along with listening to different kinds of music. He kept in touch with his friends via telephone every day and looked forward to attending Camp Trinity Camp in Salter Path, NC each summer.

He is survived by his sister, Carole Whipp, three nieces, Christine Lilly-Holbrook, Steffani Larrimore and Eryn Martin. One nephew, John Brian Lilly, six great nephews Christopher and Dakota Holbrook, Zack Lilly, Dominique, Joseph and Isaiah Martin and several great, great nephews and nieces. He also has one cousin, Rheba Browning who lives in Delbarton, W.Va.

Eric will be laid to rest by his mother at Gethsemane Memorial Park on January 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM after an outdoor service led by Pastor David Bruce. Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Beaufort.
