Ernest "Ski"
Aljirendo Jasinski
January 14, 1958 – March 6, 2025
JACKSONVILLE - Ernest Aljirendo Jasinski, known affectionately as "Ski," passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2025, at the age of 67. His sudden passing has left his family and all who knew him deeply saddened and in shock. Ernest was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his country, his dedication to his family, and his ever-present joy that brightened the lives of everyone around him.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Ernest spent his childhood there before embarking on a path that would shape both his life and the lives of others. In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor and commitment for 12 years. His time in the Marine Corps led him to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he met the love of his life, Tonie Cole. The two married in Jacksonville, NC, in 1984, and together they raised two beautiful children, Antonio and Erica.
Ernest's devotion to service did not end with his time in the Marines. In 2002, he enlisted in the Army alongside his son, Antonio, proudly serving three tours of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His dedication, loyalty, and hard work throughout his military career earned him numerous medals and accolades. After 21 years of exemplary service, Ernest retired from the Army on June 1, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice, commitment, and love for his country.
Ernest was a man whose presence could fill a room with laughter, warmth, and light. He never met a stranger and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Whether it was through his work, his military service, or the simple moments spent with family and friends, Ernest always made others feel valued and appreciated. He was truly fulfilled by the time spent with those he loved, especially in his later years, when his role as a grandfather brought him unparalleled joy. His five grandchildren, Asher, Varren, Cora, Bradley, and Austin, were the lights of his life, and nothing made him prouder than being "Grandpa" to them.
Outside of his service and family life, Ernest had a deep love for the simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, where he could feel the ocean breeze on his face. He was also passionate about attending car shows, always appreciating the craftsmanship and history behind each vehicle. In addition, Ernest cherished time spent in the mountains, where he could find peace in its beauty, and honor his Native American heritage. He also had a soft spot for a good road trip, often making stops at Buc-ee's and a visit to Whataburger for some of his favorite treats.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Tonie Cole Jasinski; his mother, Dora Norma Jasinski; his brothers, Joe and David; his sisters, Evon and Marty; his son Antonio Jasinski, wife Megan, and their children Asher, Varren, and Cora; his daughter Erica Lanier, husband Jackson, and their children Bradley and Austin.
Though Ernest has left us far too soon, his memory will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and selflessness. Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville NC from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday March 16 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday March 17th 2025 at 1:00pm at Jones Funeral Home to be followed by procession to Coastal Carolina State Cemetary in Jacksonville NC where he will receive Military honors. His family would love a show of support by bringing along your classic vehicle.
Ernest's legacy will forever remain a shining example of the power of love, service, and the joy of family. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Ski.
