BURGAW  -  Ernest "Al" Alwood Padgett, 84, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 at his home while surrounded by family.

A service to celebrate Al's life will be 1:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home, Holly Ridge Chapel.

Mr. Padgett was born and raised in Onslow County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Kay Padgett; parents, Ernest and Beatrice Padgett; and two children that were lost before birth.

He is survived by sons, Ernest "Ernie" Padgett (Meischelle) of Burgaw and Anthony Padgett (Christina) of Ohio; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; sisters, Helen Gagnon (Don) of Verona and Mary Grafius of Holly Ridge; stepbrother, Greg Murray; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday afternoon, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
