Estelle Mary Shackelford -Sneads Ferry –  August 24, 2021

Born to George W. and Mattie V. Martin in South Carolina May 30, 1931.

An avid gardener, she could most often be found in her yard rooting and propagating various plants.  Many a yard still displays the proceeds of her green thumb.  People often came and left with a trunk full of her plants and flowers.

She retired from the "bacon plant" in Holly Ridge but never understood what retirement truly was meant to be.

Her house was often a haven to many in need of shelter.  There was always room for one more.

Considered a USO of sorts, she continued to receive former military members who considered her house a home away from home as recently as this year.

Preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers, Earl and Ralph Martin, 1 sister: Vi Galenes, her precious daughter:  Masaye "Midge" Robertson, one great-grandchild and the love of her life: Roy Stone.

Survived by 3 daughters:  Cindy of Holly Ridge, Jewel of Sneads Ferry and Lori (Kevin) of Sneads Ferry;  10 grandchildren:  Eric, Wade, Beth, Anthony, Nicole, Chrissy, Charlie, Corey, Joseph and Alex;

22 great-grand children, numerous nephews and nieces, one sister: Jessie and her dearest friend "Doris" Yvonne Wood.
