Evelyn Grace Harrell Sandy, 86, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Rev. Tommy Snowdon officiating. Burial will be held privately at the Harrell Family Cemetery in Richlands.

Mrs. Sandy was an active and faithful long-time member of Cardinal Village Free Will Baptist Church. She also worked for over 18 years at Northwoods Park Jr. High where she served in various roles but worked the longest and received the most pleasure as a Teacher’s Assistant.

She was a daughter of the late Ellison and Zannie Jarman Harrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Marion Sandy; and three siblings, Donald Harrell, Billy Harrell and Helen Baker.

Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Kirkpatrick and her husband, Stephen of Jacksonville; grandson, Robert Edward Kirkpatrick and his wife, Allie of Jacksonville; granddaughter, Christina Kirkpatrick of Jacksonville; step-grandchildren, Josh Kirkpatrick and his wife, Mariia and Kelli Kirkpatrick; one great-granddaughter, Zoe; one sister, Shirley Carter; and one brother, Eddie Harrell.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
