Jacksonville -  Evelyn Olive Tanner of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away on January 6, 2026. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville. The family requests that everyone wear pink to Evelyn's visitation to honor her vibrant personality.

Sweet Evelyn was born on February 12, 2025, in Onslow County, North Carolina to Vance Tanner and Emily Sonnier.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her siblings, Bernard Cooks and Adrian Cooks; grandparents, Dawn and Barry Godette and Crystal and Stephen Hochstasser; aunts, Megan Sonnier, Janna Sonnier, and Adalynn Tanner; uncles, Eddie Sonnier, Allen Sonnier, Miles Tanner, and Dylan Owens; and several extended family members.

Evelyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Although she was taken far too soon, all she knew was being loved unconditionally.
