Swansboro- Frances Burrell Henderson, 82, passed away at her home at the Cottages of Swansboro on Monday, November 4, 2024.  She was born June 24, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late William Cleaver Burrell and Ruth Lear Burrell.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at Seaside Memorial Park.

Fran was an elementary school exceptional children's teacher, principal, and EC director in the Onslow County school system.  She was a devoted member of Swansboro United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a part of the Stephen Ministries, The Walk to Emmaus, and Kairos. She loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Carl and Elizabeth Henderson of Swansboro and Donald and Wendy Henderson of Greenville; stepchildren Mike Schell of West Jefferson and Sherrie Alvens of Jacksonville; grandchildren Caroline Knight Henderson of New York, John Crockett Henderson of Wilmington, and Annabelle Lear Henderson of Chapel Hill; and sister, April Wilkins of Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Roger Henderson Jr., second husband, Harold Lee Schell, and sisters Ruth Ann Hickey and Rose Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Swansboro.
