We rejoice through our tears knowing Francis Angielene Padgett Parker is no longer bound by the limitations of this earthly life. On Thursday, October 22, 2026, she stepped into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
Born on April 7, 1949, to Elisha Thomas Padgett and Mary Ethel Coston Padgett, Angie was raised in a large, loving, and close-knit family. As the years passed, that tight circle of brothers - James (Edna) Padgett, Thurman (Artie) Padgett, Dale (Janice) Padgett, Elmer (Brenda) Padgett, Martin (Cathy) Padgett, Neal (Lynda) Padgett, and Justin (Wanda) Padgett - and sisters - Ophelia (John) Brazelton, Juanita (Doyle) Duncan, and Coston (Charles) Toler - grew to include sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she loved beyond measure.
While working as a young and beautiful bank teller in Surf City, she met and married James “Jim” Parker, Jr. For over 50 years, they cherished one another with deep devotion as they built a wonderful life together. Hand in hand, they raised a family of their own with two sons, Jay Parker and Jeff (Karum) Parker, and one precious baby girl, Jessica (Mark) Griffin. Angie was an extraordinary mother whose love knew no bounds, no conditions, and no limits (even when those boys were known to push them a time or two). As much as she cherished being a mother, nothing compared to the joy and pride she felt as the beloved grandmother of Clay Parker, Ethan Parker, Raegan Parker, Aiden Griffin, and Luke Griffin. She possessed the rare gift of being both a fierce protector and a gentle sanctuary all at once. Our family finds immense comfort in knowing she is now reunited in Heaven with her “Jimmy G,” watching over us together.
Angie was a woman of deep faith and quiet grace who always found contentment in simple pleasures such as watching flowers bloom, listening to birds sing, feeling warm sunshine on her face, and, of course, savoring a piece of Hershey’s chocolate. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. Both her immediate and extended family gathered at every opportunity, delighting in the genuine fellowship that comes from sharing good food and endless stories around the table.
Throughout her life, Angie touched countless hearts. While it would take a lifetime to recount all the ways she made a difference, here are a few highlights of her dedication to others: As a founding member of Surf City’s Volunteer Rescue Squad, she answered the call day or night to help neighbors in need. As a teacher’s assistant and school bus driver, she started her days early and worked into the evenings to transport children safely, using the hours in between to help them learn to read. As an integral member of the Pender County Schools IT Department, her energy and dedication to supporting staff and students left colleagues of all ages striving to keep up. When her hands and feet could no longer actively serve, Angie continued to bless everyone around her. She offered a listening ear, a voice of reason, a soothing presence, and just the right words or scripture at the exact moment they were needed. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel truly seen, valued, and loved. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and be loved by her, including the exceptional caregivers who crossed her path over the years, each holding a special place in her heart and in ours.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock at Jones Funeral Home in Holly Ridge. A celebration of Angie's life and faith will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 1 o’clock at Barlow Vista Baptist Church, with Danny Justice officiating. Following the service, Angie will be laid to rest at the Elisha T. Padgett Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor her memory to make a donation to The Myositis Association to support research and raise awareness of Inclusion Body Myositis. Angie battled this disease with unwavering faith, unyielding optimism, and an unbreakable spirit. May these contributions help bring hope to others living with this disease and serve as a lasting tribute to her life, strength, and the abundant grace with which she faced every challenge.
