Frederick Attilio Armani May 8, 1942 – 16 July 2026
Frederick Attilio Armani passed away peacefully on 16 July 2026 at the age of 84. A graveside memorial service celebrating the lives of both Fred and Rachel will be held at a future date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners, New York. Additional details will be announced by the family.
Fred was born on May 8, 1942, in Syracuse, New York, to Arthur Edward Armani and Dora Bigliardi Armani.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 1961 through January 1964. Following his military service, Fred married Sue Ann Crandall.
Fred spent many years as a skilled tool and die maker with the Miller Brewing Company, where he was respected for his craftsmanship, dedication, and strong work ethic. Never one to shy away from a new venture, he also owned and operated a marina on the Seneca River in Liverpool, NY, combining his love of boating with his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 1978, Fred married Rachel Joyce LaClair. Together they built a life filled with love, travel, adventure, and lasting friendships.
Fred found joy in many pursuits throughout his life. He was a private pilot who loved the freedom of flying and a proud member of the Model Railroaders of East Carolina, where he enjoyed sharing his hobby with friends. Proud of his Italian heritage, Fred loved gathering family and friends around the table, sharing stories, laughter, and a good meal. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. He also documented life with a camera always close by, leaving behind more photographs and videos than anyone could ever count—a priceless collection of memories for those he loved.
Fred and Rachel especially treasured their RV travels between New York and Florida and the many wonderful years they spent at the Spanish Main RV Resort in Thonotosassa, Florida. Along the way, they were blessed to form hundreds of treasured friendships that enriched their lives and remained meaningful through the years.
Fred is survived by his children Larry LaClair, Michelle Weare (Darrell), Nanette Small (Paul), Bob LaClair (Cathy), Arthur Armani (Julie), James Armani, and Michael LaClair (Graeme Cassidy); former daughter-in-law Tammy Armani; his brothers, Gene Armani (Anna) and Gerald Armani (Marilyn); many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and dear friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rachel Joyce Armani; his parents, Arthur Edward and Dora Bigliardi Armani; and his oldest brother, George Lane.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Fred’s devoted caregivers, Bevan and Lorna Barnes, Sue Hill, and Cathy LaClair, whose compassion, kindness, and unwavering support brought comfort to Fred and his family during his final months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in appreciation of the exceptional care and compassion shown to Fred and his family during his final days. Donations may be made online at: https://lifecare.org/donate
