RICHLANDS  -  Gene Forbes Cavanaugh, born September 21, 1940, went home to see Jesus on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 84. Gene worked hard all his life and was a good provider. He was a wonderful husband to Annette Cavanaugh for 65 years. He was also a devoted father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Annette Cavanaugh, son Mark Cavanaugh (Mone), daughter Gina Halso (Rex), son Jody Cavanaugh (Cheryl), and brother Graham Mercer Cavanaugh (Celeste). He was loved by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Grandchildren — William Halso, Jennifer Miller, Jessica Halso, Carrie Cavanaugh, Stacy Cavanaugh, Landon Cavanaugh, Logan Cavanaugh, Luke Cavanaugh, and Lexi Cavanaugh. Great Grandchildren — Adalee Miller, Lenni Reese Miller, Jude Miller, Nellie Jean Miller, Raleigh Mac Carter, Elijah Jack Halso, Ori Miller, and Jonah Halso.

Gene was born and reared in Richlands, and he loved his hometown. He enjoyed his time serving on the Richlands town board. He was the son of the late Graham Cavanaugh, a former Richlands mayor, and the late Carrie Cavanaugh.

He was a man of great faith who loved to cruise and travel with his family. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on.
